Dinner dates and travel companions: what to expect
The longer bookings. How a dinner date runs, how a travel companion booking is arranged and paid, what each costs relative to an hour, and how to be good company for an evening or a week.

An hour is a transaction. An evening or a trip is company, and the companions who offer dinner dates and travel bookings do so because they prefer that kind of time: a conversation that gets somewhere, a meal that is not rushed, a city seen with someone who is enjoying it. These bookings have their own conventions, and clients who understand them get far more from the time. This guide explains both.
Dinner dates
A dinner date is an evening booking, usually three to five hours, that begins in public (a restaurant, a bar, an event) and ends in private. Companions list it as a distinct kind of booking because it is one: the first half is a date, with everything that implies, and the second half is unhurried time together.
How it is arranged
You book it like any other booking (the first-timer's guide has the template), stating that you would like a dinner date, the evening, the start time and the length. Then:
- You choose and book the restaurant, in your own name, somewhere she will be comfortable. Ask if she has a preference; many do, and the ones who regularly do dinner dates know which rooms are discreet.
- You pay for dinner. It is not included in her rate. Order generously, tip the staff, and never make the bill a topic.
- You arrange the second half: a hotel room in your name, or your home if she does outcalls there, or her incall if she offers it for dinner dates.
- She tells you how she would like to meet: at the restaurant, at the hotel bar first, or collected (rarely; most prefer to arrive on their own).
What it costs
Dinner dates are priced as a block, typically around two to three times the companion's hourly rate for a four-hour evening, which makes them better value per hour than shorter bookings. Plus the restaurant and the room. The deposit is usually a larger share than for a short booking, because an evening is a bigger commitment of her time.
Being good company
The clients companions describe as good dinner dates do roughly the same things:
- Dress for the restaurant. You are taking someone out. A jacket, a decent shirt, clean shoes.
- Carry the conversation without dominating it. Ask, listen, follow up. Have a few things you are curious about.
- Do not talk about the arrangement in public. To the restaurant you are two people having dinner. Keep the rate, the booking and the second half out of the conversation until you are in private.
- Pace the drinking. A bottle of wine between two people over three hours is a date. A bottle each is a problem.
- Do not perform affection for the room. Hands and eyes stay where they would on a real first date.
- Pay the balance at the start of the private part, if that is how she has asked for it, or discreetly at the start of the evening if that is her preference. Ask when you book; she will tell you.
Overnights and extended bookings
An overnight is usually twelve to fourteen hours: an evening, a night's sleep and a morning. Extended bookings run from a day to a weekend. They suit clients who want to wake up with someone, and companions who would rather do one long booking than three short ones.
What is different:
- Sleep is part of it. An overnight includes a proper night's sleep for both of you; it is not fourteen waking hours. Companions will say so on their profile, and some state a minimum number of hours of sleep.
- Price per hour is lower (commonly four to six times the hourly rate for an overnight), and the deposit is larger.
- Logistics matter more: a comfortable room, food, something to do in the morning. A thoughtful client has these arranged.
Travel companions
A travel companion booking is multi-day: a companion joins you on a trip, in Australia or overseas, as your partner for the duration. It is the most involved kind of booking, and the one that depends most on a good match, so most companions who offer it will only take it from clients they have seen before, or after a long, careful conversation.
How it is arranged
Expect to plan it weeks ahead:
- A first booking in her city, or at least a video call, before anything is agreed. Nobody flies to another country with a stranger.
- An itinerary agreed in writing: dates, destinations, flights, hotels, and what the days will broadly look like.
- Her travel arranged and paid by you, in her working name where possible: flights (she will tell you the class she travels in), hotels (one room, unless she asks for her own, which some do for part of a trip), ground transport, and visas if needed.
- A daily or trip rate agreed in advance, with a substantial deposit paid before anything is booked, and the balance paid on the first day. Rates are quoted per day and are lower per hour than any other booking; a week is a serious figure.
- Her time off. A travel booking is not twenty-four hours a day of attention. Companions build in time alone (a few hours each day is normal), and the good clients build it in for them.
Being good company for a week
Everything in the dinner-date list applies, over days. Add:
- Ask what she needs. A gym, a morning to herself, a particular kind of breakfast. It costs you nothing and it makes the week.
- Plan, but loosely. A trip with every hour scheduled is exhausting; a trip with nothing planned is boring. Two or three fixed points a day, the rest open.
- Keep her safe and comfortable. Decent hotels, no risky situations, no surprises.
- Cover everything. Meals, activities, incidentals. She is not reaching for her wallet on a trip you asked her to join.
- Respect the end. The trip ends when it ends. The professional relationship continues on the same terms as before.
