A travel companion joins you on a trip, in Australia or overseas, as your partner for the duration: days rather than hours, planned weeks ahead, and the most involved kind of booking there is. Companions who list here are experienced, selective and used to the logistics; most will only take a travel booking from a client they have seen before, or after a long and careful conversation. The reward, on both sides, is the kind of time no shorter booking can offer.
How a travel booking is arranged
A first booking in her city, or at least a video call, before anything is agreed. Then an itinerary in writing (dates, destinations, flights, hotels), her travel arranged and paid by you, a daily or trip rate agreed in advance with a substantial deposit, and the balance on the first day. Companions build in time alone each day, and good clients build it in for them. Our guide to dinner dates and travel companions sets out the conventions in full.
What it costs
Rates are quoted per day or per trip and are lower per hour than any other booking; a week is a serious figure. You cover flights, hotels, meals, activities and incidentals. Each profile states whether travel is offered and how to enquire.
Common questions
How far ahead should I book a travel companion?
Weeks, at least. Most companions want a first booking or a video call before agreeing, and flights, hotels and any visas take time to arrange in her working name.
Who pays for the travel?
You do: flights in the class she travels in, hotels (one room unless she asks for her own for part of the trip), ground transport, meals, activities and incidentals. Her rate is for her time.
Does a travel companion spend every hour with me?
No. Companions build in a few hours alone each day, and the itinerary should allow for it. A trip with every hour scheduled is exhausting for both of you.
Can a travel booking go overseas?
Yes, where the companion offers it and the destination's laws allow. Discuss the destination early; some companions limit travel to Australia or to particular countries.
