Before you make first contact

A simple preparation checklist for a clearer, calmer first conversation.

Read the complete listing before reaching out. Note the published location, availability, rates and communication links so your first question is specific rather than repetitive.

Decide what you want to ask and what you are not ready to share. A first conversation can clarify practical expectations without exposing your home address, identity documents, financial credentials or unrelated personal details.

Keep the pace comfortable. Clear communication does not require urgency. If the conversation changes direction, introduces unexpected conditions or pressures you to act immediately, pause and reassess.

Confirm important details in the conversation rather than relying on assumptions. Respectful questions about availability, boundaries and the next step reduce confusion for everyone.

If the profile and conversation no longer feel consistent, stop. You can return to the directory, preserve relevant details and use Report a Concern when there is an observable safety or policy issue.
